AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2020

The Annual Meeting has adapted its operation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It changed the format of its meetings and used digital tools to conduct its work virtually, thus helping to contain the spread of the virus. This decision by the AfriLabs Board of Directors was heavily influenced by the advice of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), as well as leading authorities. global and local health.

The meeting under the theme “Building a Resilient and Innovative Africa” ​​was held from October 12 to 14, 2020 and was sponsored by the French Development Agency (AFD) through the AfriLabs Capacity Building Program (ACBP), Mozilla, KTN Global, among other partners. It was a unique and exciting experience that transcended the boundaries of the norm and shattered conventional virtual expectations. With more than 15 exhibitors, 20 speakers and 1200 participants, La Rencontre was proof of the resilience of the AfriLabs community.

As a prelude to La Rencontre Annuelle, the AfriLabs General Assembly was held on October 7, 2020, where a new Board member was elected. The AGM was an opportunity for members of the AfriLabs community to lift the veil on the latest news within AfriLabs and to have discussions on what is needed to improve the community and the ecosystem.
