Mr . Emeka Uzoigwe is the acting Director, Strategy and Innovation at Afreximbank, a pan-African Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) with headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. He oversees Corporate strategy, Innovation and Digital platforms. He led the development of the current Corporate strategy, Innovation strategy and Digital Strategy for the organization to drive and sustain its mandate to facilitating, promoting, and expanding intra- and extra-African trade.
In addition to overseeing strategy planning, monitoring and evaluation, Emeka works with a talented pool of intrapreneurs in developing and launching new and innovative products, services and new businesses/ ventures. As a corporate entrepreneur, Emeka has led the emergence of different products and ventures for the Bank and its partners including the Pan African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), Mansa Digital Initiative, Trade Information Platform, and African Trade Exchange (ATEX).
Prior to Afreximbank, Emeka had increasing responsibility within consulting and financial services industry for development and execution of business strategy, innovation management and solutions, and implementation of strategic initiatives and turnkey solutions across many banks, in addition to running a subsidiary tech startup. Emeka is a change agent and has facilitated and/ or led organizations to reimagine and disrupt their business models.
Within the innovation space and as the chief innovation officer at Afreximbank, Emeka is currently focused on discovery, development, incubation and acceleration of strategies, business models, services, partnerships and interventions that change lives in Africa, promote intra-African trade and economic integration and stimulate innovation and African private sector growth leveraging digital and non digital instruments.
